Elias Schintzel & Family-Berlin, working 1679 to 1711

This story has three parts, each part coming from a differant source.

No. 1- The following comes from Eugène Heer’s book Der Neue Støckel.

No. 2 – Articles about Schintzel or Schinzel type guns written by Mr. George Shumway which were published in the periodical “Muzzle Blasts” and also from his 1996 book “Jaeger Rifles”.

No. 3- The following images were sent to me by a correspondent in New Zealand and are courtesy of him and the owner of the rifle. I attribute the rifle to Elias Schintzel or someone from his shop. It has no identifying marks but it at one point went through vigerous cleaning and the marks were apparently removed at that time.
