Binder, Johann-Ferlach

Compiled by Larry B. Schuknecht

The Rifle and Hunting Museum in Ferlach reports that in 1897 Johann Binder was a member of the Committee of the Gunsmith Cooperative of Ferlach. In 1910 he was an exhibitor at the Hunting Exhibition in Vienna. The business closed in 1917. The following advertisement appeared in a 1889 Address and Directory Book for Ferlach.

The following advertisement appeared in a 1888 Austrian periodical Waidmanns Heil.

Next we have an advertisement from a 1911 Ferlach Almanac.

Recently I received an enquiry for information about a combination gun with Johann Binder’s name on the top rib. It is 16 ga. and the rifle barrel is chambered for the ever popular 9.3 x 72R and the shotgun barrel is marked “Bohler Gewehrlauf Stahl”. Following are pictures of this gun.
